Today is Father's Day, and I am here at home with my Daddy. In fact I am sitting on the couch watching the Sunday news programs with him. There are so many amazing things about my Dad that make me love him. The thing I love the most is that he loves me and always supports me. Here are some things about my Dad that make him so great.

My Dad loves to read. He reads all the time and everywhere we go. He often carries a book in his back pocket so he will have a good read just in case. If Dad ever has to wait for us he says, "I'm OK I have a book!" He will sit in the car and read and wait patiently.

My Dad comes along with the group to have fun even when he might not think it was the most fun thing to do. Dad has shown me that sometimes it is best to be with the family and agree to participate to make everyone happy. We went to the Academy of Sciences with my sister's family. It was not really Dad's first choice, but he drove all the way down to the city and walked all over the museum just be with all of us.

My Dad spoils me. For my birthday this year he and Mom drove all the way to the city just to take me to lunch. Dad always makes me feel special and important.

My dad is a great narrator. As many people, we have a tradition of reading the night before Christmas on Christmas Eve. My dad does this better than anyone I have ever met. He has a beautiful clear voice and can tell a great story.

My Dad is a thinker and loves to discuss interesting topics. He loves a good discussion. It can be about religion, politics, or old stories. I have many childhood memories of listening to my Dad in the front room sitting with the adults talking. He loves to think and expand his mind. He is always wondering about something new.

My Dad is fun. For Anna's birthday Daddy put on his party hat and joined the fun. He loves little kids and loves to see them have fun. He is always delighted to see how the little kids think and learn new things. He worked in the nursery at church for a while and he let the kids jump off the toy box. He thought it was great that they figured out how to climb up on that box all by themselves!

My Dad does not like to be cold. He was always a little hesitant to come to visit me when I lived in Utah for fear it could snow at any moment.

My Dad loves to travel with my Mom. They have gone all over - Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, several cruises and all over Canada and the US. I think he really likes to go because Mom likes it so much. He is always a good sport and willing to go on these adventures. When I was about 14 we drove across the country on a big trip. We spent some time in NYC and Dad thought his Suburban was a taxi cab. He ducked in and out of traffic, blew his horn, and speed down the streets. My Dad can drive anywhere and forever! We drove back and forth to Canada to see my Grandma, and Dad never got tired of driving that Suburban full of kids. (Well he did threaten to kick Craig out a few times, but he never actually did).

My Dad travels with me too. I took Mom and Dad to Alaska a few years ago, and it was fun to see and experience new things with Dad.

My Dad is a hard worker and he knows how to fix anything. Dad can build
bunk beds, houses, decks,
swing sets, picture frames, bowls, furniture, and music boxes. He knows how to create, fix and run an irrigation system, and he can landscape anything. He burns debris, drives the tractor, runs the pool, and fix everything that is broken.

My Dad likes tools. He has a great workroom in the garage full of tools and toys. He knows how they all work and he really uses them all. He can come up with a system for any problem. We just walked outside and figured out how to park 15 cars on the driveway.

My dad takes us all to the Lake. He is a great boat driver and can help anyone water ski. Dad grew up in the water and is a great swimmer. He does not like to swim as much as he used to, but he loves to drive his boat.

Dad will hang out at the lake with us and read his book while we swim. He loves out little lake.

My Dad is a great patriarch. He is the head of our family and is a wonderful example of a leader. He teaches us all to be our best and to appreciate each other.

My Dad loves his family, and he will travel for hours and hours and hours to make it to a wedding, dance recital, priesthood ordination, baptism, missionary farewell, or family party.

My Dad is a good sport. Here he is as the woodsman in our family Little Red Ridding Hood
Halloween costume.
My Dad is a wonderful man and I love him. Happy Father's Day Dad.
