Unleash Your Inner Hero

Here is my report on Girls Camp.  It was another great year!

The Young Women of the San Francisco Stake enjoyed a fantastic girls camp this year. Inspired by the 2010 world wide theme for YM/YW, Be Strong and of a Good Courage, the Youth Camp Leaders chose Hero Training Camp, Unleash your Inner Hero as their theme for girls camp. The girls were equipped with H.T.C. capes and attended Hero Training Camp devotionals while they learned how to use their super powers to fight off the evils of the day and remain strong in the gospel. We had 22 super heroes this year at camp along with 10 or so adults. Activities included learning to cook in the great outdoors, first aid training, daily cleaning of the camp, Hero Training Crafts, stargazing, skit night, lots and lots of 'smores (have you tired them with resses peanut butter cups?!).

The super heroes also enjoyed an afternoon at a nearby pool complete with ping pong and badminton. Friday night was capped off with an amazing fireside with President Carter along with a beautiful testimony meeting. Then Saturday was spent on the ropes course. The super heroes literally flew through the sky and jumped out of trees!

The camp would not have been possible without our back up super heroes. Several sisters and brothers left kids at home, took time of work, and gave up their comfy beds to come up to the woods to cook, chaperone, teach knot tying, build fires, empty trash and generally be the wind beneath the wings of our super girls.

One night just before heading off to bed one of the first year girls was over heard to say....Girls Camp should last FOREVER! The Young Women were fantastic once again this year. Everyone pulled together, helped out, made friends, and generally contributed to a great experience. They truly are Super Heroes.

Visiting with Ryan

Ryan was home for some leave before being shipped out to Iraq, so we all headed up to Fawnhill for a great weekend.  In between taking family pictures we, played games, swam in the pool, hit the hot tub, made cookies, and belaxed.

It was great to spend some time with Sarah and Ryan, we miss them!

Shopping with Anna

A few weeks ago I was up at my sister's on our way to our Aunt's Funeral.  (post to follow)  I had a half a day to spend with Cathy and her family.  Anna usually hates shopping, but she agreed to let me run into Old Navy to return a few things.  She loves the dog they have there, and requested a picture.  I love this pic 'cause she looks like one of the kid mannequins.  Don't you love her pony tails?

Sisters Weekend

Pedicures!

We really did not have time to fit this into the homecoming weekend, but I was in desperate need!  The nieces all came with Cathy and I and we had a great time getting pampered.  Anna picked a neon pink for her and Mommy to use.  I went with a slightly less bright pink.

I love a pedicure!!

Showering with Cousins

During our very quick trip up to Scott's homecoming my family threw me a bridal shower. The Cousins all came, we ate, we talked, we had a great time!

Michelle made the lovely flowers for everyone's hair, and did the floral arrangements.  The food was tasty as always.  Have you had the lemon bars from the Krustez mix? - Amazing!  It was a very fun night.  Thanks for coming and thanks for the fun gifts.

The Winner!

Should I save this for a big revel when you get the invite?  Oh well, I never did like waiting to give a suprise.

This is the engagement picture we picked.  I think it is the one where we look the happiest, that is what I really wanted to show - how happy we are.  My brother says I look like I am going to choke Renato, but what does he know?  And as my niece Anna says...Don't you think he's handsome?

Watch your mail in August for an invite.
